The Vagabond

The Vagabond.
He seeks for a place to belong,
His search is never ending,
Takes him to different places,
Across a thousand lands,
Across a thousand faces,
Many a times he finds himself,
Invisible amongst a bustling crowd.
The demons in his head take over,
Their voices harsh and loud,
'You belong no where, stop looking' they say.
"I still have hope, a speck of it. It’s all I have left"
'Oh dear Vagabond, why do you roam?'
"Because even the place I hail from,
Doesn’t feel like home,
I walked around for the longest time wearing a mask,
And now I wear two,
One to hide my real face
And another to hide my non-existent smile
I don’t talk about this, for to get this,
You’d have to wear my shoes and walk a mile.
I find myself shaking and running out of breath,
Looks like my body is hinting at death,
I go in search of a safe space,
And I find myself returning to the confines of my mind,
Which as it turns out, is the scariest place
I am a refugee around my own people,
An uninvited guest.
My legs are wearing out now,
I seek a place to rest.
I am lonely in crowds,
And my words get lost,
Amidst all the chatter.
I try to relate to all of it,
But my existence doesn’t matter.
My search will go on,
For I do believe there’s a place I belong.
I go forward to seek a home,
Inside the gates of heaven or hell.."
'Oh dear Vagabond,
I have no words of consolation.
But wherever you do end up,
Please be well'
